Australia's National Disability Insurance Scheme funds supports for hundreds of thousands of participants, and tens of thousands of organisations are registered to deliver them. Finding the right one, though, usually means hopping between scattered listings. NDISScan is my own product built to fix that: the whole register, reorganised into a fast, browsable directory.
The audience shapes every decision here. NDIS participants, their families and support coordinators are not data analysts — they want to type a suburb or a service and get a shortlist they can act on. So the interface stays deliberately simple while the data model underneath does the heavy lifting.

How it's built
The stack is custom from the ground up: a Laravel + PHP application over a MySQL database structured to render thousands of provider, state and category pages at speed. There is no generic CMS underneath and no plugin soup — just templates purpose-built for this dataset.
Discoverability comes from programmatic SEO: every provider and every geography gets its own indexable URL with unique metadata and structured data, while aggressive performance work keeps pages snappy on the mobile connections most of this audience uses.
