The challenge: a 25-year-old SME with a 2010-era website

Cristina Tol-2 is a family business in Terrassa, Catalonia, with over 25 years manufacturing and installing awnings, technical blinds, aluminum carpentry and pool covers. The team and the finishes were excellent — local reputation confirmed it — but the website was over a decade old:

  • Not responsive. Broken on mobile, where most local-search traffic ("toldos Terrassa", "awnings Barcelona") actually arrives.
  • Local SEO essentially zero. No structure, no schema, no optimized images or meta tags. The site didn't appear for the obvious sector queries in its own area.
  • Impossible for Cristina to update herself. Any small change required a developer — so content aged fast.
  • No clean Catalan / Spanish separation. Languages mixed in the same pages, hurting visitor experience and indexing.

What I built

  • Migration to a modern WordPress with a clean editor Cristina can actually use. Any change to text, photo or product: she does it herself.
  • Fully responsive design. Mobile, tablet and desktop share the same experience. The service cards and contact form look great on an iPhone.
  • Serious local SEO: page structure optimized for "toldos Terrassa", "persianas Vallès", "aluminum carpentry Barcelona" and equivalents. LocalBusiness schema, address and hours surfaced for Google.
  • Native bilingual setup in Catalan and Spanish without cannibalizing SEO between languages.
  • Performance optimized: image optimization, lazy loading, server-side caching. Fast load even on the typical mobile connections in the Vallès area.
  • Real testimonials section — social credibility the previous site never used.

The result

Organic traffic and online inquiries grew, and that growth translated directly into sales. The most visible, tangible outcome: Cristina was able to move to a bigger shop in Terrassa to handle the increased demand — something the previous level of business couldn't afford.

For a local SME in a traditional sector, that's the result that matters: not vanity metrics, but physical business expansion funded by what's happening online.
