Tapacontador.com
A specialty PrestaShop store, built from scratch in 2017, that crossed six-figure annual revenue and keeps growing year over year.
The challenge
Tapacontador's founders ran a small specialty manufacturer in Catalonia. They had strong physical retail but zero online presence. They wanted an e-commerce store that could grow from launch-day-zero to a real revenue stream — without hitting a wall in two years and needing a rewrite.
Two constraints made this harder than a generic WooCommerce build:
- Spanish payment infrastructure. Customers expect Redsys, Bizum, transfer with SEPA — not just Stripe / PayPal.
- Inventory tied to physical workshop. Stock can change because of in-person sales the same day. ERP sync was non-negotiable.
- Editor-friendly product catalog. The owner wanted to add new products without calling a developer.
What I built
- PrestaShop 1.7 → 8.x upgrade path. Built on PrestaShop because of its Spanish-market maturity. Upgraded twice over the years without losing data or customizations.
- Custom Symfony modules for ERP synchronization, real-time stock updates and automated invoicing with Spanish-compliant fields (NIF, recargo de equivalencia, etc.).
- Custom mobile-first theme built from scratch (no bloated marketplace template). Core Web Vitals in green, lazy-loaded images, deferred JS.
- Multi-channel checkout with Redsys, Bizum, PayPal and SEPA Direct Debit. Shipping integrations with SEUR and GLS APIs for live rates and tracking.
- Editor experience: simplified PrestaShop admin so the owner can publish a new product in under 5 minutes.

The result
The store crossed six-figure annual revenue in its third year and continues to grow year over year. Eight years on, it still runs on the same PrestaShop core — upgraded twice, never rewritten. The founders never had to pivot the platform, change agencies or absorb a six-month rebuild.
That's the real win: infrastructure that compounded, not infrastructure that needed to be replaced.
