Why public funding needed a search engine

Spanish subsidies are published by thousands of separate bodies — ministries, regional governments, provincial councils, town halls. For a small business, finding the right grant traditionally means wading through official gazettes and administrative websites that were never built for search.

AyudaScan is an own product that attacks the problem at the source: it centralises the entire National Subsidies Database behind a modern search experience with practical filters and hours-fresh data. Companies use it to hunt for funding; consultants use it to monitor calls for their clients. The site itself reports 1,500 companies on the platform.

Scale is the product: 18 million+ indexed awards with real amounts, and — at the time of writing — 33,184 open grant calls worth 32.5 billion euros in available budget. The BDNS sync runs every 6 hours and the homepage displays the timestamp of the last update as a freshness guarantee.

How it was built

Indexing 18 million records and serving them through combined filters is not a job for an off-the-shelf CMS. AyudaScan runs on Laravel + PHP with a MySQL database tuned for aggregate queries over millions of rows, fed by an ingestion pipeline that downloads, deduplicates and normalises BDNS data on every 6-hour cycle.

Every grant call, granting body and beneficiary gets its own indexable page — programmatic SEO applied to open government data — and pages stay fast despite the dataset size. No templates, no plugins.
